In celebration of National Nursing Week, this week's Sound Medicine explores how nursing has changed in the past decades, and how the new educational and professional demands placed on nurses has redefined the profession in many ways.

Host Barbara Lewis will speak with nurses in a wide range of roles, from clinical work to management, to learn what's different about being a nurse in 2012.
Theresa Brown, RN, oncology nurse, New York Times columnist and author of Critical Care: A New Nurse Faces Death, Life, and Everything in Between

Lucia Wocial, RN, PhD, nurse ethicist at Indiana University Health, program leader for the Fairbanks Program in Nursing Ethics, and adjunct assistant professor of nursing at the IU School of Nursing, Indianapolis

Kim Harper, RN, executive director of the Indiana Center for Nursing

Yvonne Culpepper, RN, DPN, vice president and chief nursing officer for Hendricks Regional Healthcare

Cortney Davis, RN, nurse practitioner and author of The Heartís Truth: Essays on the Art of Nursing

In addition, Sound Medicine reporter Sandy Roob will visit three nurses -- a clinical manager, a nurse practitioner in a retail setting, and a nurse care manager -- to explore how their work is a key part of the changing health care climate.
