For twenty years public health advocates have been lobbying the federal government to get more power to regulate tobacco.

For the past decade, many have been pushing to give the job to the Food and Drug Administration, and in June they got their wish.

Congress passed and President Obama signed the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act.

The landmark legislation covers a lot of ground, so we asked reporter Shia Levitt to explain what the bill means to public health advocates and to smokers.
